Pavic Dwarf Occupational Keywords

By Ian Thomson and Greg Stafford.

There is no separate Pavic Dwarf Cultural Keyword. Use the Dwarf write-up in Anaxial's Roster and the Old Pavis Cultural Keyword.

The dwarves of Pavis are abberations to their own kind, and their ways owe more to the idyllic undefined days of the Green Age than any modern 'clay mostali' society. Normal dwarves live in rigid caste systems, and are terrified of the wide open spaces above ground. The followers of Flintnail have long ago abandoned such ways, and sacrifice to their Mostali founder has given them access to theistic magic via the Cult of Pavis. Many even emerge regularly above ground and socialise with the human residents of the Old City, a habit taken for granted by the locals but looked on with amazement by knowledgeable travellers. Since the cult 're-opened for business' last century, those people who have experience with their kind see them as only one step removed from the Openhandists of Dwarf Mine in Sartar. Those who do not know dwarves perceive them as strange creatures whose language is tainted by odd concepts, and who live only in order to labor in metal and stone in return for money and goods

Advanced Occupational Keywords

Rubble Tracker

The Rubble Trackers are an elite band of warriors mainly consisting of dwarves. They are available for hire from the Flintnail Temple near the North Quarry, or from Flintnail Mansions in the Real City. They occasionally induct especially skilled Pavic humans into their ranks, but if a Hero character takes this profession they are most likely an exceptionally eccentric dwarf who has become fond of human company and taken leave of absence to pursue his own interests. Whilst the Pavic dwarves are unusually friendly for their species, they are still rather odd and withdrawn compared to humans. Even in this occupation, a dwarf hero must be considered young and inexperienced in the ways of his people, and does NOT have automatic access to dwarf secrets.

Whilst the dwarf members, and a select few human specialists, worship Flintnail, most of the human members of the Rubble Trackers worship Opili the Wallmaker.

Entry Requirements: Invitation only, usually requiring 1w or better in a weapon skill and in Rubble Lore.
Physical Abilities: Hide in Big Rubble, Scan Terrain, Sturdy.
Mental Abilities: Big Rubble Survival, Tracking.
Mental Abilities (officers only): Knowledge of Nomad Tactics, Knowledge of Troll Tactics.
Personality: Obedient.
Relationships: to the Rubble Trackers.
Magic: Flintnail OR Opili Wallmaker.
Benefits: Superior Equipment.
Disadvantages: Must follow orders or be expelled from the Trackers.
Living Standard: Common.
Equipment: Excellently crafted bronze armor and weapon (^5), digging equipment, odd pieces of dwarf gear such as the 'Longviewer' (a stubby dwarf-made telescope, that compensates for their poor vision).
